PREGNANCY & POSTPARTUM · SOUTH SURREY
Prenatal & Postpartum Chiropractic Care in South Surrey
Your body changes a lot in nine months, and your back, hips and pelvis feel most of it. Prenatal chiropractic care at Refined uses gentle techniques, soft tissue work, movement and education to help you stay comfortable and moving well, through pregnancy and into life with a new baby.

What is prenatal chiropractic care?
Prenatal chiropractic care is chiropractic care adapted for pregnancy. It looks at how your muscles, joints and spine are coping as your body changes, and what’s getting in the way when something aches or feels stuck.
As your baby grows, your centre of gravity shifts, your posture changes, and the joints around your pelvis loosen to make room. Treatment is built around where you are in your pregnancy. It might include gentle adjustments or joint mobilization, soft tissue work on tight muscles, positions and pillows that keep you comfortable on the table, and simple tips for sleeping, sitting and lifting.
The aim is practical: less discomfort, easier movement, and feeling more at home in your body while it changes.
What prenatal and postpartum chiropractic care can help with
Pregnancy and the months after it can bring aches that are new to you. People commonly come in for:
Low back pain
Your growing belly shifts your centre of gravity forward, and your low back picks up a lot of the extra work. It's a common complaint in pregnancy.
Pelvic and hip discomfort
Aching at the front of the pelvis, around the tailbone or in the hips, often worse when walking, climbing stairs or turning over in bed.
Upper back and rib discomfort
As your baby grows and your ribs make room, your upper back and the muscles around your ribs can feel tight and sore.
Neck and shoulder tension
Feeding, carrying and settling a baby means hours with your head down and your arms full. Your neck and shoulders notice.
Posture and movement changes
Your posture keeps changing through pregnancy and after. Anika can help you find ways of sitting, sleeping and lifting that feel better.
Staying active
If you want to keep walking, training or doing the things you enjoy, care can focus on keeping you comfortable while you do.
After your baby arrives
Your body keeps changing after birth. Anika can help with the aches that come with feeding, carrying and very little sleep. Call us or email and we'll help you book the right visit.
Your first prenatal visit
Your first appointment is 40 minutes. Here's how it goes.

Wear comfortable clothes you can move in. If your doctor or midwife has told you anything about your pregnancy that matters for treatment, bring it along.
We talk first
Tell Anika how far along you are, what's bothering you, and what you'd like to get back to doing. Let her know about any complications, and check with your doctor or midwife if you have concerns.
A gentle assessment
She looks at how you move and which areas are involved, then explains what she finds in plain language. Nothing happens without your consent, and you can say no to anything.
Treatment that fits your stage
Treatment is adapted to how far along you are, with positions and pillows that keep you comfortable. Most people have their first treatment the same day.
A plan that changes with you
Follow-up visits are 20 or 30 minutes. Each one starts with how you've been feeling, and care is adjusted as your pregnancy moves along and after your baby arrives.

Meet Dr. Anika Eppich, Chiropractor
Prenatal and postpartum chiropractic care at Refined is provided by Dr. Anika Eppich, DC, a Canadian board-certified chiropractor who has practised in BC since 2020. She earned her Doctor of Chiropractic at the University of Western States in Portland, Oregon, and holds a BSc in Human Biology and a Bachelor of Kinesiology from the University of the Fraser Valley.
Pregnancy and early motherhood are one of Anika’s areas of interest. She enjoys helping patients through the physical changes of pregnancy and life with a new baby, with care that combines adjustments, soft tissue therapy, movement, exercise and education. She’s also a mom of two boys.
Comfort Is Worth Asking For
Aches in pregnancy are common, but you don't have to push through them on your own. Your first visit is 40 minutes and ends with a plan built around your pregnancy.
Pregnancy Care With a Whole Team Behind It
At Refined, your chiropractor works under the same roof as physiotherapists, registered massage therapists, acupuncturists and a kinesiologist. Prenatal massage and pelvic floor physiotherapy are both offered here, so when another discipline would help, that conversation happens in house instead of turning into a referral you have to chase.

Your practitioners talk to each other, so your care actually connects.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is chiropractic care safe during pregnancy?
Prenatal chiropractic care uses positioning and techniques adapted to each stage of pregnancy. Let Anika know how far along you are and about any complications, and check with your doctor or midwife if you have concerns.
Do I need a referral?
No. You can book with a chiropractor directly. Some extended health plans ask for a doctor’s referral before they’ll reimburse you, so it’s worth checking your plan first.
What happens at my first prenatal appointment?
You’ll talk through how far along you are and what’s bothering you, Anika will assess how you’re moving, and she’ll explain what she finds. Most people have their first treatment the same day. First visits are 40 minutes.
Can I come in after my baby is born?
Yes. Care after birth is part of Anika’s focus. Call us at (604) 606-7519 or email [email protected] and we’ll help you book the right visit.
How many visits will I need?
It depends on what’s going on and how you respond. Anika will talk through a plan with you at your first visit and check in on it as you go. There are no packages to buy and no long-term commitment.
Is prenatal chiropractic covered by my extended health plan?
Many plans cover chiropractic care, and we can bill a lot of them directly. Coverage varies by plan, so check with your provider. Current prices are on our online booking page.
When should I call my doctor or midwife instead?
Some symptoms need your doctor or midwife right away, not a chiropractic appointment: bleeding, fluid leaking, regular contractions before your due date, sudden or severe pain, a bad headache with changes in your vision, or your baby moving less than usual. If you’re unsure, call your care provider first.
Ready When You Are
Book your prenatal chiropractic visit online, email us at [email protected], or call (604) 606-7519 if you'd rather talk it through first. Whichever is easiest, we're glad you're here.
